1 Three juniors and one sen- ior made up this year's varsity cheerleading contingent, which was the same as last season's reserve squad. These four girls, juniors Becky Miller, Marcille Beck, and Betty Von Deylen, and senior Linda Bostelman, were chosen in the spring of 1966 so that they could attend a cheerleading camp in the summer and have more time to practice their routines. Early in the fall the cheer- leaders picked out bright blue sailors' outfits trimmed in white for their uniforms. Cap- tained by Marcille Beck and assisted by Mrs. Dan Norris, the squad organized the pre- season Pep Rally, sponsored dances and cake raffles, and always kept the school 10070 behind the team. The rally included a snake dance through the streets of Ridgeville, a bonfire, and a dance afterwards. One of the main attractions of the snake dance was the Spiritmobile , below. Besides its obvious value to the spirit of the evening, it was used to transport the rnascots of opposing teams to the bonfire. There they were burned at the stake , just as the Falcons' opponents would be during the season.

This year's squad was composed of six seniors, three juniors and three sophomores. The reserve team, which was made up of two juniors and six sophomores, finished with an 8-ll record. The season was started on the wrong foot, as the Falcons dropped a seven-point decision to Pettisville. They rebounded quickly to defeat league foes McClure and Malinta. After the next four games, of which they lost three, their record stood 3-5. A few changes were made, and the Falcons promptly ripped off a nine- game winning streak. Pettisville and I-Iamler were counted among the victims, and thus early season losses to both teams were avenged. The Falcons then prepared for the big battle with league-leading Hol- gate. They tried valiantly, but the Tigers squeezed out a 93-86 win. The Falcons eked by Deshler, and then prepared to face Holgate again in the Ayersville Sectional Tournament. They didn't quite have it, though, as Holgate ended the Falcons' season with an 80-61 Victory. At the conclusion of the season, the Henry County All-Star Team was announced. Two Falcons players, Steve Meyer and Larry Wesche, were honored for their outstanding play. Steve was awarded a first team berth and Larry was placed on the second team. FIRST ROW: Scott Nissen, Kevin Schnitkey, Richard Von Deylen, Don Lugbill. SECOND ROW: Bill Fether, Jim Rupp, Butch Young, Rick Cordes, Coach Norris.

Attired in blue jumpers with white blouses, Pat Lohse Vickie I-Iesterman, Rita Rohrs, and Tanya Young en- couraged the Junior Varsity to Go, Fight, Win . They also held a cake raffle to help defray some of their cheerleading expenses. Their Jr. I-Iigh counterparts, Pam Gerken, Debby Bremer, Jane King, and Pat Norden, also spent con- siderable time and effort. They followed the Jr. High basketball team on the season's schedule and tournament trail.
