Mr. Carey ' s unlimited devotion, not only to the students at North Reading High School, but to society itself, is shown by his constant involvement with people in numerous ways. He is currently the Athletic Director at North Reading High School, and also teaches Physical Education. He has run the annual Bike-a-thon for the March of Dimes since 1971. He has also been the coach of our well known baseball teams for ten years. In those years he has brought to N.R. four Cape Ann League titles in 1967, 1968, 1969, and 1970, and two Class C Championships in 1969 and 1970. In 1974 the team won the Mass. State School Championship for which Mr. Carey was named Mass. Coach of the Year. This past spring he was also chosen as the Northeast Regional Coach-of-the-Year. The girls have experienced Mr. Carey ' s unending dedication also, as he has introduced the Weight Control Program for girls, has officiated the girls ' Volleyball games on a fifteen foot ladder and even taken over as the Cheerleading Coach occasionally. There is never a dull moment or a problem that can ' t be solved when Mr. Carey is around. His endless spirit and enthusiasm are always visible whether he be in his office, on the field, or taking his hourly run in the corridor. This is the Mr. Carey that we know; the one who is always there when needed and the one who has made himself a legend in his own time with the students at NRHS. Mr. Carey, this is why the Class of 1977 is dedicating its ' yearbook to you. 10
