JOHN W. WALSH Principal ey lead us m To the divisive, disintegrating forces of tyranny cry- ing, Divide and conquer free men answer, In unity there is strengthf' Primitive people sensed the warm urgency of the protective need to live and work to- gether, but periodically Man has lost his way and, in the process, recognition of the basic value of unity. Those who would destroy us would do so by sowing the fatal seeds of disunity. In human progress, unlike mathematics, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. As each contributes in terms of his own dignity, the result surpasses the to- tal of individual efforts. It must be remembered, how- ever, that God created us as individuals, and it is as in- dividuals that we dedicate ourselves to our tasks. If our lives are to be rewarding, we cannot surrender ourselves to becoming mass men. If progress is to be achieved, we must strike a neat balance, blending in proper proportion individual drive with unified effort. Then and then only can there be true progress through unity. ld. ld His interest encourages each unit in our progress be it academic with Vin, Mr. Stanton, and Pam . . .

DEDICATIO For twenty-tive years, as our school secretary, you have been, behind the scenes, a gracious and efficient integrator of unity for progress. With understanding you have served to fuse the hundred-and-one calls be- yond duty with the routine of your job as your gen- erous contribution at North Quincy High School, and that is why to us you are such a special person. To you, Miss Esther Morrison, we dedicate the Manet of 1961. A routine scene in unity for progress 5
