Varsity football Our F Q 0 T B iiziief-ammf effa fy A Record Breaker C0465 Although this year's Raiders did not shine in victories, yet in scoring points, first downs, and spirit, they sparkled. They kicked off the season by tieing Hingham 12-12 only to be edged out by Dedham 7-6, the following Saturday. The boys suffered our traditional romp from the Maroons the fol- lowing week, but bounced back brilliantly by trouncing Norwood and Belmont in their next two challenges. The spirit of the entire school was keyed up to the tune of - North over Milton. However, the outcome was heartbreaking as the Whiz kids came through one point better in the finale. The following Saturday we entertained Chelsea and gave a show of hard fighting combined with skill not dis- played in such quantity at any earlier chal- lenge. Although a touchdown short, we had gained a moral victory! Not losing this spirit shown the Chelsea boys, the team ran crazy over the Vfarnps to achieve their highest point total all season. Then came the one we most deserved, statistics prove we out- played the boys from the other end of the city in every possible way but touchdowns. We scored more touchdowns than any other North Quincy team has ever scored against Quincy. However, we soon found that the year's scraping was not in vaing the week follow- ing the close of the season, Phil Bergamo was chosen as South Shore all scholastic left half back and joe Crowley as South Shore school boy scoring king. So the banquet found the boys eating well, but why then shouldn't they? - They merited more than a dinner - a hard luck, tough-fighting, record-breaking team!
