The members of the 1951 Alanet Staff wish to tlzank all those who helped to make this yearbook possible. We acknowl- edge our debt to Afiss Ufilina Schields for her wisdom in the establishing of sound policies. for her sympathetic understanding of our problems, for her enthusiasm, but mostly for her insistence upon our accepting responsibility. From all of these, even in her absence, we benehted. To tUrs. Aliriam Schoenherr we owe a .special debt of grati- tude for her most generous and able assistance in behalf of our layout and art staffs. For their advice, for their sound business sense, and for their willingness to discuss with us our minutest problem we thank Mr. tllelvin .lack and Aliss Lillian Gormley. TfVe deeply appreciate the many services of Miss Alarion Sullivan and Miss Esther Morrison whose graciousness and good nature survived the interruptions and inconveniences thrust upon them. To every member of the Girls' Club and to its advisers, Miss Helen Alelanson and Miss Alarion Sullivan, we, in behalf of the Senior Class, offer our gratitude for a most generous act: materially reducing the cost of each yearbook by donating the profits of the hrst performance of their benefit show. Greetings and best wishes to all members of the Class of '51.' This particular year brings us to the turning point at midcentury and confronts us with perplexities and problems heretofore un- known. The challenge presented by this most important situation is undoubtedly greater than one can possibly imagine and should induce the greatest conceivable effort in sound preparation for a well-established future. Such security comes to those who accept this challenge and to those who possess genuine faith and a will to preserve and pro- mote our democratic ideals to as great an extent as can be realized. I am confident that this Class will measure up to its proper stature in the years ahead and merit its place of honor and dis- tinction in bringing peace, prosperity, and happiness to the world. llmlrlis S.
