San- ders brought a victory to the Cougars . A tug-of- war and class skits were major attrac- tions at the bonfire Thursday night before the game. The Seniors won the spirit stick for that week. Win- ning the bumping contest were D. Brooks and K. Kelly . A sock hop was held after the game . I Ernie 0 Hair shows grace with his kick. Senior Rick Poole wins the trike race OUR MISS BRO0 9 On November 7-8 Thesplan Troupe 1478 presented the comedy OUR MISS BROOKS. The cast had plenty of fun por- traying teachers, administrators, Board members and students. After eight weeks of rehearsal, all involved felt more empathy for those in positions of author- ity. Kim Wagner played the title role of Miss Brooks, an English teacher who dreams of romance and Caribbean cruises. v . . Hut 'tw X 'AI' .,, I. XA 1' The object of her romantic dreams is the athletic director. Hugo Longacre, por- trayed by Ben Giltz. When principal David Sandusky insists that she direct the school play, her dreams are shattered. Conflict arises as Miss Brooks and Hugo stan to argue over the use of the gym. Other problems come about when Ted, the star basketball player, Oon Southj decides to quit the team to take the lead role in the play. More difficulties occur when the Board president's daughter Rhonda qMonta O'Hai.rJ is refused the female lead in favor of Jane Drew CPaula Wisenerl . Sparks fly as Rhonda's mother threatens Miss Brook's job. Although viewers were nearly choked by a storm of soapflake snow, the play was so true to life that it was enjoyed by cast members and audiences alike. Performers were: D. Jones, K. Kelly, M. O'Halr, I. Schubert, C. Todd, L. Summers, D. Sandusky, D. Brooks. K. Wagner, T. White, B. Giltz. D. Tippin. P. Wisener. I. South. R. Clodfelter. B. Boller. L. Walton. Con vocafions Enferfain The Roaring 20 , a singing group from Vincennes University came to North Putnam to entertain the students with song and dance. Some of the songs were Ro11erderby Queen. and The Hustle. which was performed while the group was dancing. The V.U. group was well received as was Freefare , a rock that was here in the fall of '75. Freefare played such songs as Frankenstein, and Pinball Wizard. The last ,convocation of the year was the Christmas Concert given by the North Putnam Band. After a few Christmas Carols the various Choruses performed. , .-,- . , -.,...-.--ig Y an K, X ., ,,n4,7AV- I-Y 13 ,r 11? f v V lllll m in A ' J W -:..:'-'3- ,F Q at Q, ,-- , , ,X I 1 5 . , Rv - .1 7,77 -1 2 , -- fm' 4 ,gd 'Z V '. 11? il b ,x 'N X . ...W mf H 3 4' -. 4 'Lv A' 43 , 3 -Q. ,g-'Yf C . .sl , . .1 -' WNV K A , . -sh v.. if ,Q gl ii ...K 96 1 n oi 4.9 X I ' ' f 53437 O11 B H 'Vw' 5 ll if 'S nl , , X Q f X 1 5 f X1 4 ix, -rg ff . .. .A. Drought- stricken, Three Point citizens are easily persuaded by Bill Starbuck Uon Southj to finance his plans for making rain. Only spinsterish Lizzie Curry fLori Hetrickj is skeptical of his promises. Lizzie's father CBen Giltzj and her brothers iDavid Shon- kwiler and Jeff Schubertj have arranged a somewhat successful romance with Sheriff File fDavid Sanduskyj. File, how- ever. balks at marriage. When the townspeople dis- cover that Starbuck has bilked them , they also find that Lizzie has taken his part. For it is Starbuck who teaches Lizzie how to appreciate herself. This fresh awareness leads Lizzie to radiate new confidence that finally enmeshes File. Supported by Paula Wisener in the role of Snookie and by an enthusiastic chorus, 110 romps across the stage. Spritely music accents the production. be 'x 4 K F-. Class officers Kelly Sanders, Monta O'l-lair Penny Allen and Cindy Clodfelter shouldered many responsibilities to prepare for Commencement wrth the aid of class sponsor Linda Patrick frightl. With the news that the man from the cap and gown company was coming to measure Seniors for their Commencement robes, the members of the Class of 7 6 finally realized that the end of their North Putnam years was at hand . The memories of illegal squirt guns, spirit stick contests, hush-hush Senior parties and Homecoming began to be treasured . Many Seniors started to think more seriously of future plans. While some anticipated marriage, oth- ers pondered what college to attend. Soon the frustration of tests and the boredom of daily routine would be behind them. 5 ga AL This ties me up in knots! The final stand- ings found the Cougars sec- m ond in the County and third 1 in the WCC. This accom- plishment is great consid- ering that 22 seniors were lost from 1974's 8-2 team. Thus, the team was inex- perienced but nevertheless made a good showing. Dur- ing the season 10 lettermen missed game time due to injuries. Seven Cougar players were elected to the WCC team. Those gridders with WCC election and school records included Mike Bul- lerdick with a passing record of 1343 yards. Ron Brothers received the most passes while I im Brothers caught the most passes for touchdowns. Raymond Haulk was just short of 1000 yards gained, and Bud Page scored 225 defensive points and was also selected MVP. Also on the WCC team were David Tippin and Kelly Sanders. Trey Etche- son received Honorable Mention on the WCC team . Ron Brothers' powerful kickoffs opened the way to many Cougar victories. ' And Qeohonal The lockers were bare, uniforms put away and the only evidence of North Putnam bas- ketball was memories. The best of these memories were the WCC and Sectional crowns, and the record equal to last year's 20 wins and 4 losses. The team had a slow start losing two of their first three games , including the County Tourney. But the Cougars came back to win seven in a row before losing to Covington. The cagers did not lose again until the Regional. The Cougars swept the Conference with a perfect 7-0 record . It marked the first year to win the WCC outright. Senior standouts Broth- ers, Bullerdick, and Miles were voted to the All-Conference team . lim was also selected as most valuable player in the county. The fans will remember the Sectional as one of the most exciting and closest in many years. The Cougars beat Cascade '72-61 before handling Tri-West 67-58. In the final game North Putnam and Greencastle battled for a Cougar win 68-62. The Cougars advanced to the Frankfort Regional where they came upon Lebanon.
