EJ The SHADOW OF THE HOUR GLASS IS EVER UPON US A handful of red sand from the hot clime Of Arab deserts brought Within this glass becomes the spy of Time The minister of Thought LONGFELLOW A year at North Providence High School is but a brief part of an hour in life s broad day Slowly but incessantly the sifting sands measure time for us minutes hours days years' as freshmen entered these beloved portals they were unaware that all of them were figuratively crossing the threshold of a new way of life with the shadow of the hourglass upon them Now their time runs low but they have used well the moment A firm foundation for successful living has been acquired memories of happy days like golden coms deposited in remmiscence s bank will pay vast dividends when they are needed most Strong bonds of friendship have been established The little disappointments and failures which come to all of us in varying degrees have woven into their characters a sturdrer fiber So to the seniors Ave atque Vale' And to all of us let s reverse the hourglass and let the trickle of sand that began last September flow back through the pages of this book to become the spy of Time the minister of Thought 2 la-l 4 4 ' 4 9 a r -, f., . e ' 1 For the seniors, only a few last grains remain - their Commencement activities.
