22 Stu Students partlctpate during SPITI Week Although Spirit Week came as a surprise to some stu- dents, many became involved and helped make it a success. On different days of the week, students came to school in their favorite T-Shirts, with their clothes on inside out, as well as their favorite sport outfit. Awards were given to the best dressed in each category at the Spirit Assembly. During the week the girls' basketball team was victorious over Ogal- lala, but the boys were cut short in a close game with Kearney. Despite the loss, students displayed pride and spirit throughout the whole game. Following the game, a homecoming dance sponsored by Stu- Co, was attended by many students. Exchange students explain experiences After leaving North Platte, I suddenly found myself in a totally different place. Even though Aus- trailians speak English, I couldn't understand any- one because the dialect and accent is so different! My school was a state school and uniforms were worn by everyone. I began wearing my blue skirt, white blouse, and school sweater, and found out P X..-J how simple it made things. Living in another country has helped me to realize many things about my own country, which has an important role in world affairs. As citizens of the U.S., we are very fortunate to live in a free world - we don't have the right to do as we please but we do have the liberty to do as we ought. Kim Holm l can hardly believe how nice and outgoing all you guys are. There were quite a few things different here, but after l got used to cer- tain habits I enjoy it very much around here. l'Il never forget any of you l've gotten to know. Thanks a lot for making my adjust- ment so easy. Silvia Cpictured with Wanda Borchersj My experiences here are good. l'm learning many things such as the respon- sibility l have representing my country here. l have an opportunity to be here to learn your customs and language. This will help me when l return to Brazil. Marco Cpictured with Miss Mary Salcettib Sd Lf 21
