X., t N 1 V 1.7! il: VL, On, H iles thirty-nine seniors received one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a high school graduate, that of being chosen as a member of the national honor society. members of this society are chosen on the basis of scholarship, leadership, character and service to the school. fifteen per cent of the senior class were elected on the above merits by the upper one-third who are eligible and members of the high school faculty. those chosen this year were alvin armstrong, erich ashburn, clark baltzell, jo ann batie, larry bechtel, pete burkard, karen cederburg, stan dougherty, theda eby, margaret fairchild, don ferguson, neil ferguson, dick files, dixie fredrick, charla goodwin, mary grabbe, jean hinman, gail jergensen. alice johnson, jim kirkman. ernie kuhlmann, phyllis jo lloyd, donna manary. linda marguardt. mike milroy, arnoldeen mueller, roger nelson, dennis nielsen, sharon parker, bob phares, jack renfroe, margene rum- ery. carol sue shreffler, shirley stearns. roger stuhmer. william tolly. cleta whisler, sandra Winfrey, and jean wing. presiding at the ceremony which took place may 13 in the senior high auditorium were five north platte high school and national honor society alumni. led by chris rosenberg. other speakers were mrs. katy romans oiconnor on scholar- shipg mark snell on leadershipg dennis dike on character and mrs. virginia taylor hornbacher on service. ompamed by miss mary jane chambers at the piano played appropriate music on the violin while the new members the rev. george olsen was'the guest speaker at the program to which parents were invited. miss kathleen forbes. ac- signed the scroll. mrs. lillian eberhart served as sponsor of the society. t-:v V' -Q.. -.
