Homecoming ’84 How can one sum up Homecoming 1984? They were the best of times. They were the worst of times. A day of celebration and festivity taint- ed by poor weather and a heartbreaking loss. But the day was not dreary for every one. Paula Carey found the silver lining in those stromy clouds as she was crowned 1984 Homecoming Queen, Kim Wells, also found a place in the sun as runnerup. For the Football team, whose early lead slowly melted away to a 30-21 loss to the Canton Warriors, the day seemed less cheery as things just didn’t seem to work out as planned. Even the cheerleaders, those grid-iron geishas, were forced to down jackets and sweaters as the mer- cury plunged to uncomfortable levels. In conclusion. Homecoming 1984 can be called a microcosm of the world, joy co- existing with disappointment, but the joy is what is remembered. The Queen and her court. Kim Wells. First runnerup.
