The lyrics of Bob Segers song, reflect our shared ex- periences as we “found ourselves searching” and faced with ”oh so many roads.” We indeed found “shelter against the wind” as we met “deadlines and commitments” and “moved mountains together.” Yes, we “never worried about paying or how much we owed” those drifter days are passed us now,” and we move on and still have “much more to think about.” “The years will roll slowly past,” and because of our yesterdays at North Penn, we will not always be “running against the wind. This gesture reflects the gratitude and appreciation we feel toward an individual who has been a tremendous asset to the youth of our Community. A sporting event involving a North Penn athlete is sure to have this man as a fan. Not a mere spectator, he has been a driving force in the developement of the Community Center, a new swimming facility and the establishment of a fund specifically created to make various youth projects possible. Your sincere interest in our lives has gone unnoticed and we thank you Mr. Robert Jones. 66 — Number of times Walt has mowed the lawn in May. Sports I was living to run, and run- ning to live. Disappointment enters into the picture as there are 18 seniors who no longer will be wearing the blue and white. Two boys from North Penn were named to the all N.T.L. team. Ted Kelchner was named as an offensive back. Ted had nearly 1300 yards of total offense for one year. Dan Kurzewski was named as an offensive center. Dan also had very impressive defen- sive stats — 37 tackles, 55 assists, 3 interceptions, 2 fumbles recov- eries and 1 blocked punt. Defense — John Woodward will be missed deeply as middle guard one of the best around. Chris Tacka — really came on and did a fine job this year. Glenn Miller — another year with Glenn in the lineup makes the coaches smile. Ends — Rob Crane and John Kelly have both been very steady and dependable. Hard nosed, they will be hard to replace. Line Backers — Dan Costy returns for one year but Dan Hutcheson the total defense leader for 2 years is graduating. Dan's stats this year read 53 tackles, 43 assists, 1 interception, 3 fumbles and 1 blocked punt Troy 0 N.P. 15 Col Mtr. O N.P. 26 Renovo 21 N.P. 6 Montgomery 19 N. P. 6 Cow. Backs — John Phinney, dependable and very consistent, in three years of varsity play didn’t make many mistakes. Dave Hall, came along tremendously, very good against both pass, and run. Offensive line Centers — Dan Costy will return to anchor an entire line Guards — John Woodward, and Jack Kelly — their quickness and ability will be missed. Tackles, Chris Tacka and Gray Gerow were veteran blockers who knew how to open holes. Tight End — Phil Bogaczyk was an excellent blocker with a good pair of hands. Wide Receivers — Chris Fessler — Best pass catching ability on the team. Bob Brion — Speed and ability to catch under pressure will be welcome back next year. Backfield — The tandem of Hutcheson, and Kelchner have been outstanding for two years, both blocking for each other and running with the ball. The best in the area. Dave Hall did a fine job as backup at about five different positions. Girl’s Varsity Basketball The 1980 season was a long one if one only considers the number of wins the team achieved. After a strong opening win against Cowanesque, the team’s inability to score, meant, despite giving their all, they were to win only one more game. Senior Lori Baker (13 rebounds per game) and Junior Pam Ogden (12 rebounds per game) gave North Penn control of the boards in most of their games. Pam and Junior Judy Morgan combined for a total of 220 of North Penn’s total offense. Ball handling was the main responsibility of Senior guards Marion Bond and Lisa Marvin. Juniors Penny Grant, Tracy Watkins and Robin Bower (leader in foul shooting percentage), will be back next year to power the team. Well balanced scoring was provided by Bill No- vitske, Mike Wilson and Randy Kendrick. Midway through the year, Steve Brion and David Pida began scoring. Ron Ritt, Randy Kendrick and Mike Kelly were all good defensive players. Greg Ruberto’s steady ball handling and outside shooting showed great im- provement. Versatile Todd Levandoski played both forward and guard well. Justin Adams, Todd Bergu- son, J.P. Ward, Scott Miller, Ron Stocum, Todd Wat- kins, Jim Bogaczyk and Tim Flemming all worked hard, and ended their season 6-6.
