Highlights This one is ours. Touchdown bound! Football 79 was highlighted by three tough wins including a Homecoming victory over Renova. This year’s team was led by a small, but very determined group of seniors: Mick Harman, Mike Stoudt, Dan Berguson, Dan Shelman, John Kendrick, and Mike Kaminski, who will all be missed next year. Offensively, the Panther's were led by junior Ted Kelchner, (800 plus total yards), Mick Harman’s passing, and Chris Fessler’s receiving (9 catches for 250 yards). Sophomores Bob Brion and Tim Llewellyn also performed well. The quick offensive line consisted of Dan Shelman, Mike Stoudt, Dan Berguson, Jack Kelly, Dan Kurzejewski, and Chris Tacka. Defensively, North Penn is eagerly anticipating 1980 sea- son as 9 of the starters are returning. A fine defensive back field (7 interceptions, 4 fumble recoveries) consisting of Dave Hall, John Phinney, Ted Kelchner, and Chris Fessler will all be returning. Dan Hutcheson (54 tackles, 23 assists, and 1 fumble may have been the best linebacker in the area. Hutch and Mark Benson (35 tackles, 44 assists, 1 fumble, 1 interception) will both be returning for North Penn. Nose guard, John Woodward, did a fine job (35 tackles, 26 assists) and Rob Crane (41 tackles, 36 assists, 4 fumbles) was thought by many to be the best defensive end around. Chris Tacka and Glen Miller made a tandem of good returning tackles. To cap off a fine rebuilding year, senior Dan Berguson and junior Ted Kelchner were honored by being named to the all NTL team.
