It is an impossible task to separate the meaningful events. Perhaps the most important lessons learned was that camaraderie and cooperation can serve to accomplish any- thing. Our parents, teachers, and friends have shown us that in order to achieve goals we must fight on. With faith in humanity and have for a better tomorrow, together with knowledge, and skills acquired at North Penn, we shall succeed. This yearbook will stimulate memories of the happenings at North Penn during 1977. In years to come, the pages will be turned with a smile — with a tear —for surely it will capture us as THE WA Y WE WERE. Homecoming Candidates Teri Stitley Joyce Lisowski Vanessa Valimont Sharon Mokrzynski Chris Bogaczyk Karen Olson Homecoming 76 9 Homecoming at N.P. has always been a fun filled and exciting event. This year's was no exception. Friday night started out with a snake dance from the school to the Island where the celebration continued with a very unique bonfire. Although it was windy and cold, the next day for the parade and game, no one seemed to notice. The highlight of the day came at half time of the game when Karen Olson was chosen runner up and Teri Valimont was crowned 1976 Homecoming Queen by 1975 Homecoming Queen, Beth Delinski. A semi-formal Homecoming Ball followed that night which was the perfect ending of an exciting day. Dedication The yearbook staff proudly dedicates this edition of the Pennsonian to Mr. and Mrs. John A. Muto. Your interest, support, and devotion to our school have been and will continue to be greatly appreciated. u William Hurley — Principal Thomas Musingo Guidance Counselor Katherine Guy - Librarian ”Juniors Yearbook Advisor: Mr. Mulka Business Manager: JoAnne Wojcik Editor: Karen Friedemann Freshmen Seniors Sophomores Mrs. Bogart Mrs. Novitske Mrs. Llewellyn Alma Mater I Our Alma Mater, North Penn High, A fond salute to thee, We hail with pride the Blue and White, And strive to do and be. They started off the season with a spectacular victory over the Cow- anesque Valley Indians. Although this was the only win of the season, we had many exciting moments and memories of The Way We Were. Matt Kelchner Mike Fessler Dennis Rumsey Ron Miller 5 e n i o r s Dan Watkins Bill Stockton HEEEYYY!! 17 and 1 ain't too bad! ! The 1977 edition of the North Penn Boys' Track team had a fine season for what most people termed a building year. The team was nearly undefeated in dual meets and midway through the season they picked up the championship at the Kiwanis Invitational. We can be proud of the many fine efforts from the boys. The 2 Mile Relay team of Jeff Wheeler, Bert Snee, Mike Fessler and Dave Bogaczyk collected medals at the District IV meet and set a new school record. Dave Spencer added a school record in the discus to his season-long laurels. Don Jones was another record breaker when he stretched out a record leap in the triple jump. Senior Co-Captain Steve Retorick tied a long standing record in the 220 yard dash and combined with Spike Rumsey, Bert Snee, and fellow Co-Captain Matt Kelchner to destroy the record book in the Mile Relay. Senior Kelchner was the team pace-setter. He was forever winning the pole vault and was the Kiwanis Invitational Champ, N.T.L. League Champ and school record holder. He topped off his season vaulting activities when he was crowned District IV champ and qualified for the P.I.A.A. State Finals. This marked the sixth straight year that North Penn boys have gone to states in track. Winning . . . that was 1977 . . that was the Way We Were. ’ Fabian Piontek Mike does it again. Danny and his muscles. Whoa, down there! Albert pushes on. This IS it! Jeff takes over. You again? You're a pain in the neck. I am so tired. Warming up. What? I'll get them this time. Chorus Concert Band “Challenge of the Sexes” Volleyball 1977 added a new dimension to its regular season. The Sophomore Jox and the Seniors of the Long Beach Tide challenged the J.V. Jockettes and the Var- sity Villians to a Battle of the Sexes. Although the girls put up a good fight and gave the boys stiff competition, the Jox and the Long Beach tide were victorious. Jr. Prom The theme of the Class of Sev- enty-Eight's Junior Prom was the Young and Restless. The rain didn't dampen the young couples restless spirits. The highlight of the evening was the crowning of the Queen. Lisa Montague was crowned queen, Mindy Kelchner first runner-up and Kim Ogden second. The evening was indeed a Young and Restless one.
