■1 •MM INTRODUCTION It is with great pleasure that the Yearbook Staff of the Pennsonian and the Senior Class of 1959 summarize between these covers perhaps the happiest and most carefree days of our entire lives. And so, with this end in view, that of keeping alive in our minds a clearer picture of events, places, and people who can never entirely be banished from our hearts, this volume has been carefully prepared. May it please and help, ir. some small part, to preserve the cherished memory of days that never can return. —2— OUR ALMA MATER Our Alma Mater North Penn High A fond salute to thee. We hail with pride the blue and white, And strive to do and be. The hardest lesson of our school Is working out the Golden Rule, And with this rule we'll win the fight All hail the blue and white. A To one who will be long remembered for her service to us all, her friendliness, and her never-failing willingness to assist in any way possible, we, the Staff of the Penn- sonian, dedicate this Yearbook, with our humble gratitude, to Julia Jankiewicz. Principal At a time when our nation is so critical and interested in the quality of education for our youth, we pause to take stock of what the Senior Class of 1959 may have missed in their high school course. We hope that you, as members of this class, have not been too badly trained for your future work or advanced schooling. I believe that those who have truly made a reasonable effort to help themselves be properly schooled in the basic education offered to them and who also have taken the opportunity to participate in the activities of recreation, athletics and citizenship, should feel that they can take the next step with reasonable assurance of average success. To those who may have passed up many of the above opportunities through lack of application or a desire to play and get through with the least possible effort, you may find some problems in the future. May I say that one of the most difficult problems for both parents and teachers is to convince a child that lack of preparation for adulthood is a serious problem. This can best be done while youth is growing up into such adulthood. May I wish you all success to the extent to which you may apply yourself to the opportunities that will be yours in the future.
