PREFACE The aim of the editors and publishers of this North Mont- gomery New World Dictionary is to provide a single volume of student memorabilia. This reference is not restricted in its selection of students photographed for this work. The first Flashback was published in 1971 and quickly won the esteem of student and general reader. The Flashback has been published annually each consecutive year since 1971. This seventh in the series of publications incorporates the best aspects of its predecessors and introduces new features designed to add to its usefulness. In the form of a dictionary we hope to simplify the format of the yearbook. Under alpha- betical headings we hope to ease the burden of leafing through unnecessary pages. At a mere glance one will be able to determine the location of many pertinent school activities. The editors are neither so naive or so opinionated as to think their selections are flawless. Infelcities, even errors, of selections are inevitable, but these, the editors believe, are errors of judgement and not the result of bias of any sort. Their correction, indeed the improvement of the editorial content as a whole, not only of the selection of pictures but of the data presented, calls for the co-operation of the consult- ants of this Dictionary. The book is planned to provide the greatest amount of pleasure to the largest number of users. The editors will welcome every criticism or suggestion, no matter how minute, designed to improve future publications.
