Members of Concert Band sit posed awaiting the maestro's signal. Concert Bond Provides Fine Music For Students Mr. Alexander, director of Concert Band, prepares to give the downbeat. Students have applauded their performances in our asemblies, on television, and in their annual rendition of Handelis 'gMessiah , which has at- tracted a large following. Members have brought honor to North Miami High each year in the Dis- trict and State Music Contests and in their per- formance in the annual Spring Choral Festival. Their final performance of the year takes place at our graduation exercises. The ability to appreciate good music is instilled in students participating in Concert Band. These young people are given the opportunity to advance culturally While expressing their innate talent.

As drum major, Bentley has prepared and rehearsed several out-' standing halftime shows. He was a member of the all-state marching clinic in 1960 and 1961 and has played solo alto saxa- phone at many music clinics. In addition to these accomplishments, he has maintained a 4.0 academic average. Marching band officers are: FIRST ROW: Bob Beutel, Cap- tain, Bentley Shellahamer, Drum Major, Danny Bellack. Lieutenant. SECOND ROW: Leonard Taylor, Captain, and Sharyn Udell, Lieutenant.
