Vocational Education Prepares Students For Important Jobs Since the onset of the Industrial Revolution, ma- chines have been the link between man's ideas and their realization. Created by man, their purpose is never-ending, helping to reduce time and effort, and increase the capacity of production, affording man more time for relaxation. Here at North Miami our vocational department teaches our students the importance and use of ma- chines. The students are taught how to put these machines to practical use to make their work easier. Mr. Zellers demonstrates the printing press to Ron Macchi- aroala.

Art-Dromo-Music-The Fine Arts Taught ot North Miomi Senior High School Drama students, with the help of Mrs. Davis, present several productions throughout the year. Many of the outstanding students have the privi- lege of belonging to Thespians, a club exclusively for drama students. Students interested in art either as a profession or a hobby find all needed facilities in our fine art department. Under the direction of Mr. Tobe the students are able to experiment in sculpturing, carving, and various types of paints and chalks. The sound of music can always be heard com- ing from the band room. The marching band, under the direction of Mr. Alexander, can be seen at all the football games. The orchestra, directed by Mr. Signor, present many musical programs during the year. Mr. Alexander believes that practice makes perfect as he directs his band. Mrs. Davis and her students watch carefully as drama students act out a presentation for her drama class. These art students are deciding what they should do for their projects this six weeks.

Students Prepore For Jobs in Business Educotion Courses Students are offered special training in various business education courses here at North Miami High. These courses include typing, shorthand, bookkeeping, and IBM operations. Seniors may receive on-the-job training. They attend classes in the morning and Work in various positions of the community during the remainder of the day. There are several clubs especially for students who are active in this type of work. Some of these organizations are DCT, CBE, and FBLA. Helene Krupa works diligently in learning the use of the IBM machines. This student learned that operating the switchboard in the main office is a very tedious job. Students master working of the adding machines in their business courses. sta, V ' sv' .Lib
