Creative writing students examine last year's Kaleidoscope. Fine Arts Develop Fine Skills Maxine Levine and Elaine Edwards work hard to meet their deadline on the Pioneer Through the creative arts students are able to express themselves. Creative writing classes, under the direction of Mrs? Gaetano, publish the Kaleido- scope, a literary magazine, produced exclusively by students. Under the guiding hand of Mr. Niles, the Pio- neer , the school paper, is published every three weeks. Mr. Niles also directs the publishing of the yearbook, the Conestoga.', In Mrs. Hicks' debate classes, students learn how to Win an argument tactfully. Outstanding students attend debate clinic and contest Where they de- bate members of other schools. These debaters have brought many honors to our school in the past years. Both boys and girls are enrolled in this course Where they get first-hand experience in taking care of ,Sa their future homes. i Our home economics program also includes courses in cooking and sewing, covering such units as grooming, dating, child care and decorating. The ability to make your own clothing and work with fabrics is one of vital importance. Art-Dromo-Music-The Fine Arts Taught ot North Miomi Senior High School Drama students, with the help of Mrs. Davis, present several productions throughout the year. Many of the outstanding students have the privi- lege of belonging to Thespians, a club exclusively for drama students. Students interested in art either as a profession or a hobby find all needed facilities in our fine art department. Under the direction of Mr. Tobe the students are able to experiment in sculpturing, carving, and various types of paints and chalks. The sound of music can always be heard com- ing from the band room. The marching band, under the direction of Mr. Alexander, can be seen at all the football games. The orchestra, directed by Mr. Signor, present many musical programs during the year. Mr. Alexander believes that practice makes perfect as he directs his band. Mrs. Davis and her students watch carefully as drama students act out a presentation for her drama class. These art students are deciding what they should do for their projects this six weeks.
