Q, Q Mr. WVomack heads the Industrial Arts Department. INDUSTRIAL ART As the skilled hands of the master potter shape the soft clay on his wheel, so the skilled hands of our industrial arts teachers mold the minds and shape the abilities of their students. Students interested in arts and crafts find out- lets for their interests in this program. Some of their many projects, Wooden trays, leather acces- sories, jewelry, and metal bowls, may be seen on display at the Industrial Arts Exhibition each year. Industrial Arts is responsible for increasing the creative ability of the students and teaching them many new and enjoyable skills. This course intro- duces young people to new fields of interest which will open the door to many different occupations. These are the Industrial Arts teachers. They are: Mr. Crisswell, Mr. Zellers, Mr. NVomack, Mr. Johnson, and Mr. DeLong. all -N Fl Wi 37

HOMEMAKING Amid the snapping scissors, perforated patterns and shining sinks, work our Home Economics teachers. These teachers prepare our girls for the important task of managing a household. The Home Economics Department is divided in- to two basic paths of study. The girls may choose between well-rounded courses in either cooking or sewing. These comprehensive courses include such units as child care, grooming, dating, and interior decorating. 3 -eff ' x 3 M fd Jw. Mr. Gregory of the orchestra and Mr. Dutton of the chorus show that music really is fun. IC That music hath charm to soothe the breast of savage beast is amply made manifest with the marvelous music department at North Miami. Pro- viding stirring marches and novelties at the foot- ball games, presenting thrilling half-time shows, producing inspiring vocal and instrumental con- certs throughout the year are just the normal ac- companiment to sound teaching of music and music appreciation on the part of our three fine music teachers. Year after year our orchestra, chorus, and band bring home honors and acclaim from their com- petition with other schools in the state of Florida. They have proved that culture excels at North Miami just as physical prowess on the gridiron, court, and track. The student body at our school owes a great debt to Mr. Alexander, Chairman of the Depart- ment, Mr. Gregory, and Mr. Dutton for providing beautiful and splendid music. 38 Many honors have come to our music department under the fine and friendly leadership of Mr. Robert Alexander. ,qu 4.
