FROM LEFT TO RIGHT are female gymnasts J. Lawhead, B. Bickford, P. Werkman, R. Yarno, B. Hettel, P. XVhalan, and I. Lawhead. GYMNASTICS Coach Cicio, North Miami's gymnastic coach and contender for the Olympics last year, formed the only co-educational club on campus in 1960. The club consists of three parts, and members can belong to all three. Gymnastics is the first part, and is the pure exercise field. Second on the agenda is Gymkana, the show business portion. Here the fellows and girls practice gymnastic tricks for shows, and it will not be uncommon to see a few people juggling in the gym. Third, is Gym- nastica Honorary, and students must hold a 2.8 school average to belong to this portion of the newly organized program. Ronnie George and Sten Lilholt show their gymnastics style. Beginning the gymnastics season, Coach Cicio's team took the South Florida Novice AAU Gym- nastics Championships held in North Miami's own gymnasium. Approximately 60 registered AAU high school students were represented unattached by their re- spective schools. Bubba Howell took a first place in the rope climb for the Pioneers, Paul McDonald took a first in the side horse, and Tom Honeycutt took three firsts, one in tumbling, trampoline, and free calisthenics. School-spirit tumblers Bubba Howell and Beverly Bickford stand in front of school emblem.

Two years ago we were State Champs. Last Year we ran second in State, loosing to St. Petersburg by a fatal drop of the baton in the sprint medley. This year over eighty boys started the season with the track team. After many days of gruelling practice, the team was narrowed down to 40 boys. North Miami has the best competition record in the State. This year the boys got off to a slow start but picked up very well. wh, . , fm , 'ki DiBlaski, S. Shafer, B. Bryant, G. Martin, G.
