It was a warm day on May II, 1959, at the Sun- shine Pool in St. Petersberg, as the first shot was fired to begin the State Championship Tournament. The races were all close ones, and the final outcome of the meet was in the hands of many teams throughout the day and evening. VVith the last relays finished, the final results were posted. STATE CHAMPIONS - NORTH MIAMI, GIRLS - CORAL CABLES, BOYS. After a long season of hard and strenuous train- ing under the watchful care and guidance of Coach Howie Auer, the benefits were beginning to show. This was the brief summary of a wonderful occasion for a large group of hard working students. This years' team is not quite so large, nor is it filled with quite so much depth, but they surely will try their darndest to hold on to everything that they have been left with. Among these things are, City Champs. Cold Coast Champs, District and State Champs. For such a young team. only six years old, the story is a good one. This will certainly be the team to watch in the up and coming years. I T TO RIC III IHONT C Scanlan NI Selig K. Mgr. P. Fortman, A. Levin, K. Hutchinson, C.
