X. xp, ' ix f W V Candy Cgllil-15 James Robinson Miss Majorette of Florida, National Strutting Cham- Mr. Drum Major of Florida, National Twirlmg pion of 1958 runner-up of 1958. With the start of the 1958 season, the new Look in marching bands was presented to the football audience of North Miami High School. Instead of the conventional block band, this style of marching three lines entirely across the field was used for the first time in Florida by the Pioneer band. The advantage of this style was greater maneuverability, and better blend of sound. The bands performed at all pep rallies and football games. They especially liked the trip to Key West where they were received most enthusiastically. The bands participated in the Orange Bowl Parade, New Yearls Day Orange Bowl game, and Fireworks display. They presented their fabulous doodle-town show in February and began preparation for the participation in district and state contests in which they have continually received top honors in concert, marching, sight reading, and solo ensembles.
