This year. the Big Blue Band has exeelled exeeptionally. Under the direetion of Tony Anderson, the band began their winning streak at the University Interseho- lastie League Band Marching Con- test where they won three first divisions. Indixiduals were aeeepted into the Region III Texas Music Asso- eiation All-Region Band and Jill Johannson, senior, achieved the highest attainable honor of a high school student when she made the All-State Band. She and six others were ehosen for the East Texas State All-Senior Honor Band. At the UIL Solo and Ensemble Con- test. North Mesquite took forty- eight first divisions and sixty-eight seeond divisions. ln March, the band attended the UIL Concert Band Contest. They traveled to Corpus Christi for Bueeaneer Days Band Festival in April. Band 25
