cCo Receives Dedication lledication: The act of Mr. lames McCoy giving his time. loyalty, advice. and strength to every person who had anything to do with the great success and spirit of North Mesquite High School. The vivacious assistant principal was interested in the well-being and prosperity of every student, faculty member or administrator. lust a few of this busy man's duties at North Mesquite were calling substitute teachers. making those unforgettable 8:25 a.in. announcements. handling textbook business, and being an all-around helpful guy. Many seniors showed thanks to Mr. McCoy for helping them get early dismiss- als and taking care of absences. Fa ored Students l Freshmen Terri The Freshman cheerleaders in 1975 will never be forgot- ten because they were all tiny, but incredibly enthusiastic girls. Freshman Favorite Terri Malone exemplifies this cheerleader group. Her unbounded energy amazed every- one who knew her. She was a member of F.C.A. and enjoyed horseback riding. Terri liked her first year at N.M. best because she met so many new friends. Fernando Freshman Favorite. Fernando Villafana. was another of the athletes honored at North Mesquite this year. A football player. he was known for his variety of interests. Fernando plans to continue in F.C.A.. hopes to improve his grades. and wants football to stay a part of his life. He is interested in law as a career. Iuniors Ian Zany Ian Duffer was chosen by her classmates to be one ofthe 1975 Iunior Favorites. She was known for her outgoing personality and bright smile. A member of the French Club and Pacesetter Drill Team, she also enjoyed swimming. and dancing and espe- cially meeting people, Ian plans to go to Iunior College in California when she gradu- ates and would like to be an interior decorator. Terry Terry Davis. a very busy young man. was chosen as lan's count- erpart. A member of the Student Council. Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Young Life and F.H.A., he also actively participates in functions at his church. He played football this year and would like to be a coach someday. When asked his reaction to being elected. he said he was shocked and added that he liked school and thought this year was the best.

We felt that these stu- J dents should be rewarded for their high achievements in elubs, sports, or aeademies. lt is our privilege then to present these five sen- iors with the 1974-1975 Trailblazer Award. at Kathy Calhoun Lynne Campbell Van Ogden Bob lladdox Howard McNeil KHHQI Lynne President of the Thespian Troupe Cheerleading played an important and three-year member of the Drama part of l.ynne Campbell's four high Club, Kathy Calhoun definitely found sehool years. She reeeived awards in herself interested in theatre. She was in loeal and distriet meets forthe Number the Cirl's and A cappella Choir. on the Sense Team. Lynne joined the Freneh Honor Roll. in the French Club. and a Club. FCA. and was Treasurer of the Paeesetter for two years. National llonor Society. lBob The medieal world found itself ready for Bob Haddox. He was employed by Baylor Hospital in Dallas to further his knowledge of the subject Bob was Viee-Presideiit of the Latin Club and reeeived several awards for eompeti- tion in the Sczienee Club. Klan Basketball was one of Van Ogden's favorite sports. He showed this by let- tering on the Varsity team his junior and senior years. Van appeared on the North Mesquite Honor Roll. and was an aetive member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. lloyvard llonor student. Howard lVleNeil. has reeeived awards in loeal. distriet, regional, and state meets for the Num- ber Sense and Slide Rule Team. lle was in the NHS and Spanish Club. Howard was featured in W'ho's Who and was a National Merit Semi-Finalist.
