'l'he Board refused to pay his salary, and arranged for a court injunction which tied up all school funds and the schools were forced to close for the l920-2l session. Mr. Gardner took his case to court, suing for the year's salary for which his contract called. As a graduate of the l'niversity's l.aw School, he argued his own case and won. He was succeeded in l9ll by D. L. Paisley who first suggested that the high school be made a four-year institu- tion, and during whose administration Argenta High School was constructed. Then Supt.
