The Echo CLASS HISTORY In September of 1943 thlrty four llttle students entered 1nto the portals of the North Llma School to begm a new phase of l1fe Sexen of those stu lents were des t1ned to spend the rest of thelr school days at North L1ma Included Ill that number were Dlck Enney Rachel Blakeman Barbara Codner Verna Swope Conn1e Maxgay Jean Stouffer and Noreen Szewc Mrs Mentzer soon got us tamed to IhlS new l1fe and she sk1llfully gulded us through our f1rst year Before we knew 1t the t1tle of second graders was bestowed upon us We were the ftrst class to be d1v1ded some of us had MISS Swope as our 1nstructor and the rest of us were under the superx 1s1on of M1ss Cottom Many of the students hold fond mem or1es of the fun we had ln the play house vxhlch was located 1n the f1rst and second grade comb1nat1on room Our next move down the hall was to Mrs Haneys room where our class was a galn together In the fourth grade undel M1ss Lehman s guldance out class began to haxe basketball teams along w1th cheerleaders The succeedmg year Mr Lehman our teacher d1d much to develop the boys ath let1c ab1l1ty Our boys even competed w1th another school IH basketball At last we were prlvlleged to move upstalrs w1th the h1gh school students Here Mrs Brady mtroduced us to several new subjects 1nclud1ng art and poetry Now we were seventh graders and was lt ever fun changlng classes' Hawng a dlfferent teacher for each subyect was also nox el Mr H1mes our home room teach er helped us out on several class projects no one w1ll forget the f1ne t1me we had on our class p1cn1c at M111 Creek Park Our sponsor the next year was Mr Burkholder who helped to prepare us for h1gh school At the end of the term we were permxtted to choose our own subjects for the The follow1ng year after we had surylx ed our 1n1t1at1on we settlel down to study our new courses Mr Popelka however gulded us through the rough spots We had much fun durmg the year part1c1pat1ng 1n the xarlous h1gh school act1v1t1es but were glad to become Sophomores In our Sophomore year we 1ncreased our bank account by the magazme sales dr1we and a skat1ng party MISS Warr1ck prox ed to be a great help to us The t1me passed qu1ckly and soon we were Jun1ors W1th Mr D1Gregor1o as sponsor we cheerfully embarked upon our buslest year thus far selllng candy sponsorlng a skat1ng party and presentlng the play Our M1ss Brooks At last we had arrn ed at the goal of our school career the busxest year of all and the cox eted pos1t1on of exery student We Semors under the guldance of M1ss Stack house publlshed the Echo sold basketball penc1ls candy and became prepared for the l1fe ahead Wlth M1ss Warrlck as our dlrector we presented our Sen1or Play Great Caesars Ghost wh1ch proxed to be xery successful Flnally came the Jun lor Senlor Banquet Baccalaureate and Commencement At last we are f1n1shed pro- ducts of our dear Alma Mater and take our places 1n the world as useful c1t1zens Pave 1 ttuzty ' - . . . .
