Among all the parents who send their children to Christian schools, the largest single professional group is from public education. What this says is that public school teachers and principals - more than any- body - don't want their own children in public schools. In the beginnings of our nation all our schools were church schools. Public educa- tion is a comparatively recent innovation. Weak character may prevent an athlete who has all of the requisite skills and talents from having a successful career in the National Football League. In the same sense, I am convinced of the im ortance of a Christian school P education in the life of a young person. Without the strength of character that grows from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a young person will not achieve a truly successful and meaningful life, regardless of his talents and education. ...ln the Bible we find an important question. There is no source for sound teaching and wisdom like placing Jesus Christ at the center of all aspects of our life, including the educa- tion of our children. It has been my privilege to serve on the Board of a Christian school for several years, and to have seen my daughter, Lisa, graduate from our Christian school. It has also been very satisfying to me to be a part of supplying Christian leadership for the future by providing Bible-centered educa- tion for our young people. This problem is easily understandable when children spend every school day sur- rounded by teachers, school administra- tors, and students who, at best, ignore or reject the Christian life.
