Senior Gi November mffrked the beginning of the holiday season, and thc- spirit of students certainly reflected it. All attention was focused at the start of the month on the crosstown showdown with Paris High. The football team, despite a valiant effort, closed their season with yet another loss. Girls' cross country team, however, was experiencing yet anotherwinning season.Alloftheir hard work, determination, and miles paid off as they captured another state title, and Sabra Lands ran in with an individual state championship. Seniors and Juniors began preparing for the annual Powderpuff football game, early in the month. As the big game day grew closer, rain became more apparent. The coaches were forced to in exchange turn in the pigskin for the round ball. lTopl State Champs: Amy Slaughter, Mr. Don Moffitt, and Patti Proctor pose with all of the girls' cross country trophies during a reception honoring their state championship. it What's Next? Sweep District Meet W School moved into full swing as clubs, sports, and other extracurricular activities gained momentum for the year. Band, under the direction of Mr. Randy Jones, traveled to Longview for UIL Marching Contest, as the Cross Country team swept district in Dallas. Under an intense strain, Juniors took TEAMS tests in order to demonstrate their mastery of Math and English skills - a requirement for graduation. But all work and no play makes NL students . . . ready to Dance! Student Council happily obliged by sponsoring a dance to benefit the Wishing Well after the Ftockwall football game. Pee Wee! J Knight, Greg Clark, Robert Smith, and Barry Wood strut their stuff at the Barry Wood Assembly. Rotten Apple? Teresa Brannan, Michella Wheeler and Tammy Morrison try to find the problem during a science lab. Scoops, Please: Brookie Crawford and Carolyn Robinson ask James for one more scoop of ice cream at Sophomore's Banana Split Raisin' Spirit Band: Mrs. Kathleen Williams, Mrs. Virgue Anthony, and Mrs. Judy Weatherford want to join California Flaisins. in Bucketball Although the game had changed from football to bucketball, the excitement and entertainment were still there. Junior and Senior guys who acted as cheerleaders and majorettes kept not only the crowd rolling but their team's spirits high. Although Seniors won 24-16, no team walked off the loser, as the profits of the game went toward the Junior-Senior Prom. Two Points: Senior Evette Hostetler 13321 goes up for a layup as Junior Jennifer Dollar 01643 tries to block. Hey Babyl Bruce Simpsen is thrilled when Junior cheerleader Jason Hostetler comes up to shake his hand. if e Moving Ahead: Senior Cindy Weaver moves in for two as Junior defense quickly approaches.
