Spring was in the air, and Panthers were anxious to get involved. Athletics including Baseball, Track, Tennis, and Golf were off and running. Leading district play Varsity Baseball team was in the midst of an outstanding season: simultaneously, boys' and girls' track participated in and took honors at the District meet at Paris High. These athletes were also honored for their achievements at the annual All-Sports Banquet. As predominant as athletics was the presence of academics in the form of UIL competition in the areas of band, choir, literary, speech, math, and science. Through practice and determination, all divisions from the UIL team, including band, went to Regional competition at North Texas State. From the 18 who advanced to Region, eight traveled to Austin for state competition. In competition of a Line Drive: Clint Bryan makes a solid hit against Rockwall. X i ge 7' Moving on through the month of March, students could be found engaged in a wide variety of activities. UlL was a high priority for many - both students and sponsors - as the academic teams traveled to the District Meet and winners advanced to Region. In addition, One-Act Play cast members diligently prepared for the public performance and district competition of Shakespeare's The Tempest. The hours of rehearsal time proved to be worth it as Director Mrs. Lau ra Parker stated, The most exciting moment was to see the audience. . . enjoy and appreciate the show. Science students finished their Science Fair projects and proudly exhibited their findings to the scrutiny and praise of fellow students, teachers, administrators, and parents. March, however, was not all workg it was also filled with its share of spring's fun and frolic. Student Council sponsored a Sadie Hawkins-Beach Party Dance, Keywanettes attended spring convention, and all enjoyed a week of rest, sun, and fun, known as SPRING BREAK!
