W-'ii 5115 Baseball Team ls Second in Region Summer of 1981 was exciting and fun-filled as usual for North Lamar students. Tri-Hi-Y members made a trip to Galveston for their end-of-the-year trip. Beta club members attended the national convention in Orlando, Florida, and visited Disney World during their trip. Baseball team members played in Bi-District and Regional playoffs, and finally ended their season at the Regional finals. A Bond election was proposed and planned, and many people spent long, devoted hours to its cause. Most students were out having fun, either swimming or skiing or doing something energetic. Cheerleaders, ma- jorettes, and flag corps members spent a week of their summer readying for the coming school year. The gym floor was replaced, and parts of the gym were repainted to complete repairs from last spring's fire. Hot Practice Sessions: Craig jones prepares for another hot noontime practice session in the August sun. . , School Begins on August 14 During the month of August many N.L. students were busy getting ready for the coming school year. Band members started summer band practice at the end of luly and worked right through to the beginning of school. Football players began workouts and were looking forward to a successful season.
