Tri-Hi-Y Has Spr O.E.A. Winners: Daniel Womack and Kenda Morton were winners in State O.E.A, Contests. ing Dance April brought various District and Regional meets which left students with a lot of make-up work. Everything slowed down a bit when long- avvaited Spring Break finally came. Band was very busy this month with a playing contest in Galveston, a concert for the student body, and a trip to Clarksville for a solo and ensemble con- test. Students were all involved in various tryouts, banquets, and conventions. Also many attended the annual junior Livestock Show held at the fairgrounds. Tri-Hi-Y held their annual Easter Egg Hunt for Kings Daughters Day Care Center and their Spring Dance for members and prospective members. fTop Leftl Tri-Hi-Y Spring Dance: Tri-Hi-Y members and their dates enjoy the Spring Dance. llvtiddle Leftj Spring Concert: Band members perform their spring concert for parents and guests. 'We've finally made it this far! Eighth graders listen as they are ad- dressed at their graduation exercises. Eighth Grade Picnic: Kim Fleming and Kim Lawler enjoy a game ot Tennis at the annual Eighth Grade Picnic. Angela Moffitt Holds State Record Once Upon a Playgr0und: Speech and Drama Class Members perform for student body. lLeftJ Giving her Best: Angela Moffitt has given her best to receive award for Top Girls Track participant. As the year quickly came to an end, it was excep- tionally busy with various events. At State U.l.L. Meet, leff Draper came in first in Number Sense and second in Calculator. Angela Moffitt placed first in Two Mile Run and Second in Mile Run and set the State AAA Record in the Two Mile Run at the Girls' State Track Meet. Seniors presented their annual play titled Rest Assured, and athletes were honored and recognized at All Sports Banquet. During the month of May, the weather caused many heartaches. A tornado touched down in Ember- son, leaving many homeless. Many clubs quickly responded and collected money and various necessities to give to those who had lost their homes. The whole town stood behind them and helped them start anew. Citizens even got together and helped to build a new church to replace the one which was destroyed. On the day yearbooks were handed out, weather was once again ugly. One of the windows in the front hall shattered, and Yacht Staff members had to get medical aid. lunior-Senior Prom was once again held in lunior High Gym. Theme of prom was 'Paradise Island, and Talewind provided music for the event. The lunior- Senior Breakfast was held at Paris Golf and Country Club. For the first time, graduation was held outside at the football field. With graduation came mixed emotions, some were happy while others would have been more than willing to come back again. Ma TT
