Panthers Are Second ln State Many students were out of school due to various conventions and UIL events. Along with spring came Baseball and Track seasons. l Students were also involved in the annual Science Fair and Valentine Pageant. Debate Team and Girls' Golf Team both won district and advanced to regional competition, while Band attended Solo and Ensemble Contests. Speech and Drama Students put on a Night of One Act Plays, and P.l.C. Chorale performed for the student body. junior High students participated in Western Day. Boy's Basketball Team ended a super season. For the first time in North Lamar's history, they went past Bi-District to Regional and State Competition, all the way to the top. ln State playoffs, we pulled ahead and defeated Van Vleck 55-52 g however next competition proved tougher when Panthers fell to Rice Altair by a score of 54-50. ln spite of the loss, we were still sec- ond in state. tTop Lefti junior High Western Day: john Robert Brown, Kim Beard, Monty White, and Sherry Taylor pose for pictures. tMiddle Leftl We're Number One! Tri-Hi-Y Has Spr O.E.A. Winners: Daniel Womack and Kenda Morton were winners in State O.E.A, Contests. ing Dance April brought various District and Regional meets which left students with a lot of make-up work. Everything slowed down a bit when long- avvaited Spring Break finally came. Band was very busy this month with a playing contest in Galveston, a concert for the student body, and a trip to Clarksville for a solo and ensemble con- test. Students were all involved in various tryouts, banquets, and conventions. Also many attended the annual junior Livestock Show held at the fairgrounds. Tri-Hi-Y held their annual Easter Egg Hunt for Kings Daughters Day Care Center and their Spring Dance for members and prospective members. fTop Leftl Tri-Hi-Y Spring Dance: Tri-Hi-Y members and their dates enjoy the Spring Dance. llvtiddle Leftj Spring Concert: Band members perform their spring concert for parents and guests.
