Freshmen Have First Orientation August and the start of school brought a continuation of band and football practice. Band members practiced early each morn- ing to learn shows and music to be per- formed at football games and pep rallies. Football team scrimmaged Cooper and Hugo, Oklahoma, to get ready for regular season games. For the first time, orientation was held to introduce new freshmen to the high school and its rules and requirements. School began on August 15, and the first few weeks were spent getting back into the routine of school and electing class officers and representatives. QTO Righty Sorting Schedules: Office Assistants Ruth VanNoord, Doug Fouse, and Lee McDonald separate schedules to give to Freshmen. fMiddle Rightl Issuing Lockers: Coach Paul Glover assigns lockers to Freshmen on the first day of school. lLeftJ Observing Practice: Drum Major Teresa Ray observes the marching band's practice. fBottom Rightl First Day of Class: Mrs. Sheila Daughtrey records book numbers on the first day of school. 18 August M-fi...

Booster Club Sponsors Watermelon Supper Q September was a very busy month for the students and faculty at North Lamar. Football season began, and this was a hectic time for the football team, cheerleaders, band members, and oth- ers closely associated with football. Vol- leyball season also began in September. The Athletic Booster sponsored a Watermelon Supper encouraging peo- ple to join the Booster Club and honor- ing all athletes from seventh grade through high school. Clubs began to organize and plan their activities for the oncoming year. Tri-Hi-Y Senior members initiated new members by making them dress tacky and play games like small children, rather than having a formal initiation, Senior pictures vvere also made, and the Student Council took orders for '41 mums to begin preparing for Home- coming. fTop Righty Tri-Hi-Y Initiation: junior Tri-Hi-Y members Carol Cohn, Stephanie Carter, Cindy Risinger, Darcie Asche, Kenda Morton, Ronda Kersh await their initia- tion as Senior member Shannon Armstrong lines them up. iMiddle Righty Racket Wagon!
