Time Is Scarce as Year Comes to a Close The last month of school was busy for underclassmen as well as seniors. Band members had little time as they went to the Sandy Lake Music Contest a week before their annual spring concert. An extra-large crowd braved the sweltering heat of the unairconditoned gym to see Off the'7'rack, the senior play. Students agafn danced to the music of the Quintet at the junior-senior prom, This One's for You was the theme cho- sen for that special night. The state track and math meets marked the end of the year for UIL competitors: the girls' track team went up yet another notch as they won second place, and Charles' Draper became the first NL stu- dent to place in the state math meet when he took third place in Number Sense. As the last full week of school arrived and the '78 Yacht didn't, students and Yacht staff became very anxious. Due to bad weather, Taylor Publishing Company had fallen behind schedule almost a month. When the Yacht finally came in on the last Friday, the Yacht Staff worked frantically to get the books out without further delay of the weekend. The end of twelve years of hard work for 140 Seniors was greeted with both relief and regret as they said goodbye on graduation night. Valedictorian Terry Vanderburg and Salutatorian Becky Jen- sen gave their advice and shared their feelings with the huge audience that packed the gym that night.
