The division knoxxn as Representative Art demands little originality. Objects and studies are merely placed before the individual to draw. Simultaneously he learns the manipulation of various niediunis. such as charcoal. pencil drawing. pen and ink. and watercolors. In slight contrast. the Creative Art division encourages the student to be original rather than conventional. to comprehend certain fundamentals found in all the arts. whether it be music. drama. literature or painting. He learns to appreciate fini works of the past. present and future. The chief purpose of any art group is to develop an understanding of art through practice and discussion. to meet a natuial desire for self-expression, and. in the case of the exceptional student. to lay the foundation for a professional career.
