“Keep the noise down,” warned Mr. Smith. “Speak louder,” encouraged Miss Binger. “Don’t run in the halls,” cautioned Al. “Practice,” emphasized Mr. Critzer. As eighth graders, we’re now the rookies of NJH. Because we are the “middle children” we feel we know the ropes. After our first timid year as seventh graders, we are now confident that we know every trick in the book as well as a few that have not yet been published. The 1980-81 school year contained an abundance of academic knowledge for us. We admit we did become more “worldly” after studying geography. We found out that speech class was a little different from after-school phone conversations, and we couldn’t help but be attentive in Family Life Education. Our eighth grade experiences have prepared us to accept the challenge of succeeding our ninth grade compatriots as leaders in the North Junior High kingdom. 13
