If we ,,,, live up to it, North will be all right. fall Mary Holt organized the Pep Squad in the fall of iff 1947, Fifty girls supported it loyally and added much J 2 to the spirit of the fmotball season. i,M Ye are proud of Hrs. Carrollfs Choral Club, It I If has provided beautiful music for North as well as for fgggg the Veterans' Hospital, Christmas, Easter, and Bach MQYQ Festival progrmns this year. Betty Jean Richardson lmpax and ninke fade have been tne presidents of the Club ,Qpft QM 2 The Forth Junior hi-Y won the city championship SE? in basketball and football. R ,es A t- we f- he .. ., .A ' ' Student Government Sponsor, Nell Kennon It seems wonderful to me that the people of the United States have the right to act as they please so long as their acts do not jeopardize the rights of others. The 8B Social Studies class in the fall of 1945, after discussing the Constitution of the United States, got the idea of a student government for North Junior, The idea grew and the teachers gave their full cooperation. Soon they were meeting with the delegates from the home rooms to discuss their views on the idea. The delegate assembly then ap- pointed a committee to draw up a constitution. After many meetings, changes in the constitution and very hard work, the constitution was ratified and signed. Then it was presented to the students and passed by more than the three-fourths majority re- quired for ratification. Sam Dehm helped write the Constitution. Other makers and signers of it were: Tom Mabray, Jo Ann Martin, Janie Bradner, Randy Warren, Rex Harkins, Cleta Watson, Pat Robbins, Lu Alford, Ruby Jean Fer- guson, Don Huey, Ann Barron, Bettie Smith, Maurice Williams, Franklin Connor, Mike Sewell, Gene Roberson Bobby Haug, Phillip Frances, Betty Lou Daniels, Jack Henson, Scooter Chiles, Katherine Davis, Glen Edmonds and Bob Gray. The first big project for the Student Govern ent ,A was the Fun Night at North Junior which netted us fri ijg, 3l47.00. Other projects were the revival of the ws' W Northern Light, the school paper, which had been dis- N' XX iontinued because of paper shortage and printing prob- 'hc I ems. 1 At the beginning of the fall tem of 1947, the fb gtg government bought a typewriter, mimeograph machine, ,iggg Q, and supplies. To promote school spirit we printed if ' iw? football ribbons with slogans for each game and also amass pfgr football programs, including names of all football git gym players and their numbers.
