Class Histo ry On a bright sunny September morn of 1955 the ringing of the school bell initiated the high school career of 104 innocent little freshmen Their first official act in high school politics was electing the following off cers Pauline Wemnger president Paul Gumz vice president Io Ann Tlnsley treasurer Dorothy Lemke secretary and Dennis Flagg student council representative Mr Berg Mr Krausbeck and Mrs Woosley were the faculty advisors Their entry to homecoming float competition tha year Sail Over Delphi a large sailboat cruising on blue crepe paper waves won third prize The class chose red and white for their colors Class parties were a Christmas party 1n the gym and a picnic at Iasper Pulaski Game Reserve In 1956 the roster of the sophomore class of North Iudson High School listed ninety six students Having a year of experience behind them they swung back into the routine of school and elected Dorothy Lemke president Carol Bangert v1ce president Pauline Weninger treasurer Wanda Richie secretary and Iack Cunningham Faye Shepherd and Kenneth Pucka student council representatives Their sponsors that year were Mr Berg Miss Bush and Mr Krausbeck The sophomores won first prize with No Place for Indians a float picturing an Indian sitting in a North Judson park The Hotshots coached by Paul Tolson won their interclass basketball game against the freshmen September 1957 soon came bringing 74 Junior students back to old NIHS Pauline Wenlnger president Frank Gappa v1ce president Ioanne Dantl secretary Lyn Prochaska treasurer and Iack Cunningham Dorothy Lemke and Faye Shepherd tudent council representatives were elected to lead the class through a very busy year Their artistic talents were challenged when homecoming of 1957 approached Ihey met that challenge by winning first prize with Bluejays Reign a float made tomboy was presented as the Junior play Around the World the Junior prom of 58 was set against a background of six different countries Murals of the six countries were framed by blue crepe paper covering the gym in the shape of a quonset hut The class of 59 again proved itself by winning he first interclass track meet by a large margin Toward the end of the year Iack Cunningham was elected student council president Sixty-one ambitious students worked their way up to the senior year Kathy Lewandowski became senior class president with Anita Zak vice president Lyn Prochaska treasurer Joann Vanek ecretary and Dorothy Lemke Faye Shepherd and Bob Hajek student council representatives IlITlm19S Taste Good Like a Victory Should the second prize winning float was a cannibal scene Graduation May 28 1959 marks the end of their years at NIHS years that have formed the educational background for careers yet to come IWILL Class NAIIII LEONARD APONAS My worries of passing Miss Foster s literature class to anyone who wants them LENA BARNETT My major in home arts to my sister OTIS BRADLEY My nickname Moose to Paul Knachel and hope he abides by the Moose Code KERMIT CAMPBELL My false teeth to B111 Owens DANNY CARPENTER My abilitv to play the pinball machine at Tony s to anyone who can stand to lose LUE RANIE CHAFFINS My height to Mrs Creal so she can reach the top of the blackboards BILL CRAFT My ability to dlsturb teachers to anyone who wants it MARY CRAIG My worn out shorthand pencils to Mary Blenke IACK CUNNINGHAM My ab1l1ty to give Uncle Tommy Lawson a hard time to Paul Knachel IOANNE DANTI My quiet refined manner to Barbara Nowak LARRY DECH My eyebrows to Loretta Riddell PHYLLIS DELAL My seat in art class to anyone who can stand it WAYNE EICHELBERG W1ll'P 'P I m going to try to take it all with me DONNIS FLAGG My straight legs that Elaine Zwiers Yeadon willed to me to no one I want to keep them as long as 1 can IANEI FREESTONE My ability to work after school and on Saturday to my s1ster Iudy FRANK GAPP1-L My title as OFFICIAL WORM EATER on the football team to Freddie Gumz so long as he promises to perform the ancient art of worm eating in every game.
