Zaafwl There is no public' service of more fundamental ini- portanct- lu our nation than that of nicnibcrshi p on a board of education. School boards are charged with the responsibility of giving a community the kind of schools it needs and wants. We in North Judson feel fortunate in having civic minded board niembcrs working conscientiously to give the young people of our community the best in education. .L I This has been a most active year for the NJHS Student Council. We became members of the National Association of Student Councils, adopted a new constitution, and launched a chapter of the National Honor Society. In addition, we supervised elections, planned con- vocations, and regulated school dances. Officers for this year are Aaron Minix, presidentg Jack Cun- ningham, vice -presidentg Faye Shepherd, treasurerg Dorothy Lemke, secretary3 and Mr. Beymer, sponsor. Compliments of VANEK BROTHERS. ' X' 1 XJ' , 1 I Many opportunities occur during a school ye ar that enable students to learn to accept responsibility and to become active, participating citizens. These opportunities and experiences, which are pictorially recorded in this book, will enable each individual student to develop his personality to the fullest extent of his capacities. It is the sincere hope of the teachers and administration of the North Judson High School, that each student will avail himself of these opportunities and render service to his school and his com- munity to the best of his ability. I am sure as the years pass, and the future becomes the present, you will be able to look back at the various experiences that you had in school and say with pride that you have accepted the challenge of good citizenship and that your deeds have helped to make the world a little better place in which to live. J. C. Hill. Compliments of BROWN'S TELEVISION SALES and SERVICE The desire and will to learn and to do right! Blessed is the individual who possesses these things. For not only in school, but in all of life, desire to learn and to do right, powered by determination, will make ordinary burdens light and heavy burdens bearable. If you have these qualities, thank Cod! If you don't have them, brother, pray that they be granted to you. H, C. Only one player on the ten man squad was below 6', Patil Tolson, a 5' 11 junior guard. The rest of the squad was rounded out by seniors -Jim Podell, 6' 4 p Aaron Minix, 6' 4 g Oscar Arnett, 6'g and Ray Rudd, 6', Besides Paul Tolson, other juniors were Homer Tolsori, 6'1 g Edgar Lewaridowski, 6'g Otis Bradley, 6 2 g and Lawrence Trusty, 6'. And last, but not least, was Eugene Bogash, a sophomore, who was a sensation in his first year as member of the varsity's starting five. The Jays started the year off with a bang by beating the Plymouth Pilgrims 61-59. Eight more teams became victims of the Blue Jays before they suffered a defeat. These were Kouts, Hebron Culver, Knox, Winamac, Morocco, LaPaz, and Winamac. The first defeat suffered by the Blue Jays was inflicted by the Rochester Zebras in the finals of the Knox Holiday Tournament. After this followed four more straight wins over l.owell,Chesterton, Knox, and Erancesville before the Monticello Indians beat the Jays 75 -60. The Jays got back on the winning path again by winning three more straight over Washington Clay of St. Joseph County, Winamac, and Rolling Prairie. The Jays worst blow of the season came when Delphi invaded the local hardwood and pulled a major upset by defeating the Jays. After this game, the Blue Jays ended the regular season by defeating the Rensselaer Bombers 55-29. North Judson defeated three county tournament winners in beating Washington Clay of St. Joseph County from South Bend, Rolling Prairie of La Porte County, and Chesterton of Porter County.
