Miss Mary Concannon, a liberal arts major, is active in joumalism, including editing the Troy Trib and working on the annual staff. Mary is also a member of Honor Society, Inter- national Relations Club ond participates in music activities. Miss Linda Benish is outstanding both scholas- tically and socially. Elected queen of the Christmas Dance this year, Linda is also a member of Honor Society, Signifer Commites and other clubs 'f-:np Wi Steve Ludeman, a football man, majoring in Social Science, has been active in many events in the last two years. i963 President of Stu- dent Council, Steve has played a leading role in college life. 'vi i .Il L j, l . l Bruce Collins, an accounting major has con . tributed greatly to the success of our college. An Honor Society member, Bruce's name has always been found high on the Dean's list. Miss Nancy Reed, President of Phi Theta Alpha, is inevitably found involved deep in College activity. Maintaining top grades plus a great deal of activity merits Nancy an out- standing student honor. l2I Honorable Mention. to Pat Larsen and Marilyn Laudner. Pat o journalism major, has spent o great deal of time working as editor of the Troyannum plus working on the Troy Trib and other activities. An Honor Society member, her days are well filled with college life. Marilyn, also an Honor Society member, has been editor of the Troy Trib and worked on Annual staff. She is active in many other activities while majoring in education.

Miss Carolyn Pitts, state president of S.l.S.E.A. is majoring in elementary education. Carolyn also takes an active part in many other student activities. Her high grades and cheery atti- tude contribute greatly to the success of the college. Annually, a number of outstanding students are chosen. This honor is awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement, school activity and attitude. Nominations for outstanding students are submit- ted by the faculty. These nominations, plus the students' achievements are put on a second ballot which is the final faculty vote. The number of stu- dents to receive this honor is determined in ratio. One student, a sophomore only, is chosen for every one hundred students in the college. The seven stu- dents who have received this honor are to be highly commended for the work and achievements they have accomplished. Honorable mention in the outstand- ing student division goes to Pat Larsen and Marilyn Laudner. Dave MacMillan has been outstanding in many facets of Junior College life. ln addition to a top position on the Dean's list, Dave has been President of Circle K, Honor Society, Medical Club and a student council member. His participation in all of these activities has made Dave popular and outstanding in the minds of students and faculty.

Under Bill Eddings, director of Adult Education at Mason City Junior College, the adult classes have grown in importance, interest, variety and attendance. The program included courses in col- lege credit work, hobbies, business and industry. Almost 5000 people a year take part in MCJC's Adult Education program. Courses are offered in any area, if at least l2 people show an interest and a qualified instructor is found. The Adult Education office is located in the junior college building.
