The Student Council plays an integral part in North's Administration. As the voice of the students at North, the Council is continually working and planning for a better school. During the past school year this representative group has considered and outlined many school improvements. Mr. Lort, together with the faculty, has helped the Council carry out its progranl. Next year, under a new Constitution, they hope to do even more. The Council is composed of the four All School oflicers, the four officers of each class, a representative of the North Star and the Viking Annual, and a faculty advisor. The Grade Councils, composed' of two representatives from each counseling room and the faculty class sponsor, introduce new ideas and helpful suggestions to the Student Council. After the- Student Council has approved any idea or suggestion, the Grade Councils help them carry out their program.

LACEY During the 1949-50 school year, three North teachers have left our Viking faculty staff. After twenty-eight years of continual service, Gene P. Varian retired in December. Mrs. Bernice Ward resigned so that she could take care of her home. Gerald Lacey resigned in order to enter the contracting business.
