The way to peace is through our students. I f this is true, and we believe it is, then the students of North have a great task before them. We live in an age in which the hopes and aspira- tions of all mankind are obscured by clouds of sus- picion, mistrust and fear. But we are full of the optimism of youth-optimism which points to a better world. We the students of 1950 have in our possession the greatest tools for world peace-knowledge, under- standing, and truth. As we stand at the half century mark, we are truly fortunate to have the opportunity to work, to play, to live in this great land, America. In no other place in the world today do the boys and girls enjoy freedom as we do. However it is not to the past to which we pledge ourselves, but rather to the future, the future we shall build. Our Annual depicts the American Way of LU'e-- a Way of Lie with which we have become familiar during our stay at North. We know of the Four Freedoms and the Declaration of Independence, and we have practiced it, in the classrooms, in the halls, at the dances, in the assemblies, on the athletic yield, in our organizations-through the companionship and brotherhood which we have known. With a firm belief in the American Way of Lq'e, and with optimism toward the future, we humbly dedicate the 1950 Viking to the youth who will shape a better tomorrow.
