Every day the sun rises and sets around the shrine. Inside her great walls can be found an education, even greater than that obtained from books. Her corridors are paths that lead to the highest phases of life. To all who enter her portals, her face carries a message. Her outer frame portrays the symbolic traditions of her en- vironment. The inner walls of her structure house a tremendous spirit, which is true of those who hold her up as their idol. Her hands extend a hearty welcome to all who seek new and glorious adventure. Those who delve into her books of knowledge will be rewarded for life. During the day she is subiected to many trials and tribulations, but at night her strength is regained with silence. ln the still of the dawn she poses for great artists, although the colors on their palettes cannot re- produce the splendid blending of her natural beauty. -41 ,M 'X , 1r,f't'-M. k- . ff 4 ,A .-Eg we 5-1.F.??Y Q-qv-'ISDSM ,A-F359-H , -fgfv ,fQ,: :AAN THA' to J .DERSTP-Npl' 'TH UN as, PRECEGUS . 5: 5.13-5 ' pazss , ssl. During the winter months she watches girls become ladies, and boys become gentlemen. Then in the spring the fledglings fly away, having been fed wholesome provender gathered from the fields of know- ledge, and she is once more alone. But as mortals seek her aid in a troubled world, she can proudly hold her head up high, for she knows her educated children will face their problems with confidence. Every day l approach my shrine, my temple. Yes, every time I gaze upon her beauty my heart swells with pride. My eyes and voice reflect my true feelings for you see she's my present life, she's my door to the world, she's NORTH HIGH. DAGMAR MCGILL, '50
