awaken, some place. no longer recognize anything, no longer understand anything. QHYS or TRQVEL. become one face, something strange. To yawn throughout a football game, To relearn to speak. To wish sometimes to leave, and then to stay. To laugh, to weep. To no longer know what one is doing here. To await a letter, arrange some photos. To learn to live again as a family. To search for someone to talk with, someone who understands, someone who wishes to listenA And then to remain silent. I no longer know why I am here. Time passes, and so much seems far and away. These were some of the thoughts of for- eign exchange student Anne-Lawrence Veyrine after coming to Sioux City from France. Anne spent her year here as a senior, and hoped to continue her travels after leaving. Vania Concha, a native ofChili came to North as a sophomore. She noted many interesting differences between schools in Chili and in the U.S. The school Vania attended in Chili had no study halls, and classes were not held when teachers were ill. The main difference she noticed was our abundance of ac- tivities, such as drill team, twirling, and cheerleading. She felt our culture was fairly easy to understand and enjoyed her visit here. gl 'rs .4 ' . L' .gk '- 7: f 'A ,mg ' Mi fi ra' ' . Pene felt that the student body was very friendly and was im- pressed by our school spirit. She noted that we have more freedom in school than Australians, and enjoyed it thour- oughly. f six: Ll 24 Fflil V QNX ti!-4451 lg Lf DQQJV Russ Gesling, also from Australia, was a senior this year. He felt that our school was much more strict than theirs-school regulations and dress codes were very lenient at his college, which included grades ll and 12. He enjoyed playing tennis here, and found many activities and clubs to participate in during his stay. ' . N ..

DHYS oF PHR'IlilllG The final gathering of the Class of 1979 was at the Commencement Exercises on Tuesday, May 22. Valedictorians Dave Dykstra and Jeff Wensel led the graduates and also addressed the class with speeches, the invocation, and benediction. Members of the class looked on as each was presented a di- ploma by Dr. Richard Wagner, Presi- dent ofthe Sioux City Board of Educa- tion. Graduation concluded numerous hours of activities. As young people who entered the Auditorium as high school seniors emerged as high school graduates, the days of parting were also concluded. aim tffl LQAVQ X Wye X tU.,i1!d X jf!
