New Tradition for North High Students Courtwarming, 1983, a new concept anywhere in the Des Moines school district. Court- warming week was held from January 17 to 21. There was a spirit week, student guests of honor from each grade, and a mixer following the Roosevelt boys and girls basketball doubleheader. Courtwarming was the idea of the Pep Club, and it proved to be a good one indeed. The main theme of the homecoming-style event was Sharing Horizons and was con- ducted to show how well the athletic merger with Tech was do- ing. Spirit days included a grub day, Hush day, way out day, 50 ' s and 60 ' s day, and a colors day. Finalists for the ' royalty ' were selected by the student bodies of the two schools with Tech ' s students select- ing the North winners. Those chosen to represent North at the basketball game were: fresh- man Darcy Dunlap, sophomore Ryan Aldrich, junior Kelly Cox, and senior )oe Fitzgibbon. Each winner was introduced between the boys and girls games by Dr. Ray Pugh. They all received a medallion with a handshake on the front and TNT Courtwarming 1983 printed on the reverse side.
