1981 Varsity Football Coach Petersen shows his disgust at the Valley game The 1981 Varsity Football team finished the ' 81 ' season with a disappointing 0-9. record. Even though the Polar Bears did not win a game all year the Bears played well at times. North started the year with a very heart- breaking 7-6 loss to Indianola. This was North ' s best game. They played hard all the way to the final buzzer, but could not come out on top. Other games the Bears played well in, but the score might not have shown it, were Hoover 64-20, East 47-7, Lincoln 35- 7, and Valley 28-0. This year ' s team had more players out than last year. Hopefully with all of the juniors coming back and most of them with lots of experience, next year ' s team should do even better. junior Doug Strobel takes the hand off and runs up the middle 26
