Arts and Crafts Help Many Students To Develop Their Creative Abilitv Deep concentration prevails as art students sketch. The art department gives students a choice of taking art class or crafts. Designing posters, clay and silver work, tile printing, rug weaving, wood carving, and sketching make up the art class. Crafts provides work in making jewelry, junk sculp- ture, clay modeling, ceramics, and silver work. North ' s remodeling class offers the opportunity of learning the funda- mentals of construction. One project this year was remodel- ing the kitchen of a private home in the Model Cities area. For about two hours each day, they did such jobs as paint, sand, and install a dishwasher and sink. Later they completely re- modeled a small house that belonged to a church. Home management includes planning and cooking meals, taking care of small children, sewing, and studying family relations. The students gain better insight into the problems of family living. Basic Fundamentals and Experience are Gained Through Industrial Arts The industrial arts department consists of mechanical drawing, woodshop, auto mechanics, and metal shop. Each course is designed to teach the necessary fundamentals and furnish valuable experiences for each student. North ' s Business Education program aids non-col- lege bound students prepare for future careers in many fields. It also helps some students decide which field they wish to enter.
