Work-Study Prepares Youth For Future Positions The students attend school part of the day and receive on-the-job training part of the day. In this way they are able to receive a useful education which is immediately applicable to their lives. Industrial Arts Trains For Jobs As the youth of North leave high school, many take their place in the working world while others further their education by attending college. The industrial arts courses prepare the stu- dent for both a job and for advanced study. Training is given in auto mechan- ics, mechanical drawing, and wood and metal work. Some of the projects which are undertaken by the students are build- ing a cabinet, making blue prints, and tearing motors apart. One of the model cors in the simulator. Simulator Helps Prepare Competent Drivers During the first semes- ter North driver education students were fortunate in having the use of the simu- lator. In it each student had his own model car to drive. While watching a movie of a moving car, the student would react in his model to turns and hazards like the driver in the movie. Now, as more and more youth are driving and getting their own cars, these experiences are very beneficial in making better drivers. The course came to a climax with the final test and the issuing of temporary licenses. —24—
