The Man Who Came to Dinner, North ' s fall play which was presented November 5 and 6, was a comedy by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman. The play centered around Sheridan Whiteside, who having dined at the home of the Stanleys, slips on their doorstep, breaking his hip. A turbulent six weeks of confinement follows. A phone bill of $784 and a library full of penguins are but a few of the odd situations encountered. Pictured above is Sheridan Whiteside (Dave Worden) and Professor Metz (Eddie Olson). d tye $irdie, princf f- (ay, Satirized t ocL $nd J oll M m Pictured above is John Worley in his role as Conrad Birdie. The latest singing idol is sweeping his many fans off their feet with his song Honestly Sincere. Above are the stars — Cindy Pickard (Rose Alvarez), Jack Dawson (Albert Peterson), Larry Rominger (Hugo Peabody), and Sharon Raymond (Kim MacAfee). Bye Bye Birdie, North High ' s spring play, was a musical satire on the rock and roll singing craze that has swept the United States and many parts of the world. Produced and directed by John Thompson, the play was based on the book by Michael Stewart. Bye Bye Birdie is the story of a rock and roll singer named Conrad Birdie. When Uncle Sam invites Conrad to join the Army, millions of American female teenagers are ready to secede from the Union. Con- rad travels to Sweet Apple, Ohio to bid farewell to his many fans, all girls, and to give a kiss to Kim Mac- Afee, chosen to receive Conrad ' s farewell symbol to the teen world. The other girls of Sweet Apple are completely infatuated by Birdie, however, the boys consider him a thief of love. In a fit of passion, Hugo Peabody hits Conrad and knocks him cold. Matters are also complicated for Birdie ' s songwriting manager, Albert Peterson, who survives on ten per cent of Birdie and who has hopes of making Rose Alvarez, his secretary, his devoted wife.
