Sandy Beard and Jane Gourley, seniors, are all smiles after being crowned maid of honor and bus- ketball queen respectively, during halftime of the North-Jasper game. All students were eligible to vote in the election. The results were kept secret until the big moment. Don Walz, senior, crowned Jane and bestowed the traditional kiss.

Patience, determination, defiance-these are the moods reflected in the faces of Debbie Markwell. Coach Gerald Kirkman, and Denice King, respectively, as they viewed their senior grid team go down in defeat at the hands of the junior powder-puffers. i is A Sherry Snodgrass, junior, attempts to sweep around the end, but Deana Johnston, senior, has other ideas as she tries to stop Snodgrass. Mr. Ron Johnson lrefereel and Brian Meier, senior, observe the action. as X .,.t.l.f That's dignity and tranquility as revealed by Linda Moehlenkamp, senior. Or is it bubble gum? Here she gets a break from the game to do a bit of side-line coaching. Individual Pufliers Prove Interesting Egg Halftime of the powder-puff football game was high lighted as Mr. Ron Johnson lrefereel starts the tug-of war,won by the sophomores. It was all over as Barbara Meiser gave Dodie Moon one gigantic squeeze. This burst of excitement came as the mighty juniors triumphed. i The juniors do their jump- ing jacks to the count of Beat Seniors. Connie Ham- montree, captain, leads the calisthenics. WN. ,Al

Mr. Ed Wessel, assistant football coach, and Mr. Morris Riley, head coach, show their amusement after Roger Barnett, senior, bestowed his victory pants to them during the Reitz pep assembly. Mr. Ed Wessel, assistant basketball coach-portraying a big Husky-readies himself to overthrow a little Monarch from his throne. This is one of the many skits that took place during pep assemblies this year. This year's pep assemblies centered around spirit competition among the four classes. A committee composed of Jane Gourley, senior, and Ellen Carnahan, Scott Hagg, and Becky Wright, juniors, tried to spark enthusiasm Teachers on the committee included Mr. Wayne Deig, Spanish, Mrs. Jane Bernhardt, mathematics, Mrs. Maria Nelson, science, Mrs. Phyllis Sprinkle, mathematics, and Mr, Robert Wessel, vocational machine drafting. This group originated the Pep Jug and the Slop Jug, which were awarded sporadically New Ideas Help ln Spurring Spirit Go, Fight, Win, Huskies! represents only one of the signs used to boost spirit for the gridiron clash between North and Rex Mundi. The team got it together to overcome the Mon- archs 3-0. A colorful visitor to the school, Miss Marcia Yockey, local weathergirl, forecasts that the Husky gridders will pulverize Mater Dei, which was undefeated until this encounter. North overpowered the Wildcats 13-6. Competition in the form of a peanut race occurred among the four classes during a pep assembly. Here Howard Whitsell, junior, tries to overtake Ken Stan- field, senior, but Kenny pushed his nut over the finish line first. 'l5
